Meet Rose

There is no other way to put it…Rose loves to be loved.

Rose is one of two donkeys that came in together at Hidden Bee Animal Rescue, and she has a special place in our hearts. She is a gentle soul who loves to be loved and craves affection from everyone she meets. Unfortunately, her past was not as kind to her.

Rose’s abuse was the result of being ignored, a common issue for donkeys who are used as protectors against coyotes and other threats. When put in flourishing pastures with a good water supply, they can often be forgotten, leading to a decline in their general health. This was the case with Rose, as her hooves were not properly taken care of, causing her significant pain, infections, and severe leg and joint pain.

Thankfully, Jenny Raabe-Eastep of Li’l Angels Miniature Donkeys sent us a photo of Rose, and we knew we wanted to give her the care and attention she deserved. With the help of a skilled farrier, we were able to correct the damage done to Rose’s hooves, but it will be something we have to watch for the rest of her life.

Despite the challenges she’s faced, Rose remains social by nature and continues to crave affection. She’s become a beloved member of our animal family, and we’re honored to have her at Hidden Bee Animal Rescue.
