The Nosy Nubian Goat
With his long, floppy ears and charming good looks, Peter is the talk of the town on our farm. This breed of goat was once primarily raised for their superior milk-producing abilities, but in recent years, they’ve soared to the top of the dairy goat breed list. And Peter is no exception – he’s a prime example of what makes Nubian goats such wonderful animals to have around.
At first, Peter might seem a bit intimidating, as he’s always in your business and checking out what you’re up to. But once you get to know him, you’ll find that he’s just a big softie who craves attention. In fact, he might even butt you a bit to get you to give him some pets and cuddles. But hey, we can’t blame him for wanting a little extra love and affection, right?
Despite his tall and thin frame (which sets him apart from our Pygmy goats), Peter doesn’t lack in personality. He’s always up for a good romp around the farm, and he’s especially fond of exploring new areas and meeting new animals. You will often find him at the neighbor’s fence introducing himself to their herd of cattle. When he first arrived from Missouri with the small herd, we were a little worried that they wouldn’t get along with Missy. But it turns out that they fit right in – especially Peter, who’s quickly become a fan favorite.
As Missy prepares to give birth to her calf, we’re a bit concerned about how the small herd will fare without each other for a while. But we’re confident that Peter will find plenty of new friends and exciting things to do in the meantime.
