What Volunteering Looks Like

  • General farm maintenance and cleanup

Specialty Role: Volunteer Beekeeper

Help care for honeybees and learn practical beekeeping.

We are growing our hives and looking for adults who want to learn beekeeping and help maintain healthy colonies. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and respect for safety.

  • Hive inspections and seasonal checks
  • Hive maintenance and expansion
  • Honey harvesting and processing support
  • Bee yard upkeep and habitat care
  • Monitoring for pests, disease, and stress
  • Learning bee behavior, hive structure, and safe handling

Requirements

General Farm Volunteers

  • At least 16 years old
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather
  • Willing to follow safety guidelines and instructions
  • Respectful of animals, staff, and other volunteers

Volunteer Beekeepers

  • At least 18 years old
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working around bees and wearing protective gear
  • Willing to follow detailed safety procedures
  • If you have a history of severe allergic reactions to stings, this role may not be a good fit

Protective gear for beekeeping is provided.

Training and Safety

Some roles require on-site training before you begin. We will help you learn the basics and match you with tasks that fit your comfort level and skills. Safety, patience, and consistency matter here.
