We never expected to fall in love with an old farmhouse, but that’s exactly what happened when we stumbled upon Hidden Bee Farm. Built in 1843, this historic Federal home had seen better days. But as we walked through the creaky halls and overgrown pastures, we knew we had found our sanctuary.
Of course, we didn’t realize just how much work it would take to turn this old house into a functioning home/farm. We’ve learned a lot about plumbing, electrical work, and roofing. Let’s just say, we’ve become experts at patching leaks, and you should see us climb up on the roof, it’s like an episode of Spiderman!
But the hard work and the endless to-do list have been worth it, because Hidden Bee Farm is more than just a house, it’s a home for animals in need. Our mission is to help and heal abused, injured, and mistreated farm animals, and it’s been a privilege to watch these animals heal and thrive in this peaceful setting.
It’s not always easy, and there are times when it’s heartbreaking when we lose one of our rescues. But we take comfort in knowing that they lived their remaining days in a place of love and care.
Gypsy and Jackson
We never expected that our son, Jackson, would also find healing here. As an autistic and epileptic child, he has faced many challenges, but the animals at Hidden Bee Farm have been a source of comfort and joy for him. He has an unexplainable connection with them, especially those who have suffered in the past. It’s as if they understand each other in a way that words can’t express.
We are so grateful for the support of our community as we continue to care for these animals. And we’re honored to be able to share the magic of Hidden Bee Farm with the children who visit, their joy and wonder is an unexpected but welcome reward for our labor of love.
And we’ll keep patching leaks and climbing on the roof if it means we get to be a part of their journey. Hidden Bee Farm may be an old, farmhouse, but it’s our sanctuary, and it’s filled with magic.
It’s hard to explain the magic of Hidden Bee Farm, but it’s something that you have to experience for yourself. We invite you to come to one of our events and see for yourself the beauty of this farm and the magic that happens here.
