The Timid Pekin Duck
Lucy’s story is one that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. For most of her life, she was confined to a small cage, unable to move freely or spread her wings. As a meat duck, she was bred to have a large breast, which makes it difficult for her to walk without discomfort. But since coming to Hidden Bee Farm, Lucy has found a new lease on life.
Despite her timid nature, Lucy loves spending time with her two boy companions, Fred and Ricky. She spends her days lounging under the shade of the trees, taking in the sights and sounds of the farm. Her gentle and easygoing nature makes her a favorite among visitors, who are always struck by her unique personality.
Most Pekin ducks are raised for meat and egg production, but Lucy’s resilience and determination make her an exception. Despite the challenges she has faced, she continues to thrive in her new home. We can continue to provide her and other animals like her with the care they deserve.
