The Surprise

Alright, folks, gather around and let me tell you about the donkey that took the Hidden Bee Farm by surprise – Eric! And when I say surprise, I mean it! The vet had just checked on all four of our lovely donkey ladies, given them their shots and whatnot, and not one of them was showing any signs of impending motherhood. But lo and behold, a week later, we woke up on a Saturday morning to find that we had a new addition to the family – Eric!

Now, you might think that Brianna, Eric’s mom, would be ecstatic to have a new little one in the family. But let me tell you, Brianna was perfectly content with the “it takes a village” approach to raising Eric. She was more than happy to let us or anyone else take the little guy off her hooves so she could catch a break from his antics. Unlike her counterpart, Gypsy, who was an old pro at this, Brianna seemed to have missed the memo on how to be a mom. So, we had to give them some alone time and help Brianna develop her skills while making sure Eric was well-fed and taken care of.

Despite Brianna’s lack of motherly instincts, Eric has grown up to be a real charmer. And we couldn’t be happier to have him around. He’s added a whole new level of excitement to the farm, and we love watching him and his big brother Kevin run around and play together.
